FEATURE RIDE : 1988 TOYOTA COROLLA T CAM

I was busy surfing the net when I cam across this beauty. I was simply blown away by the simplicity of this modification. First of all this is not a Kenyan ride but the reason I decided to feature it was to give guys an idea of what people across the globe are doing and to showcase the fact that simplicity at times is the key.

The car featured here is a 1988 Toyota Corolla T Cam. As they say old is gold and the guy who did this mod  is a genius. After coming across this photos, I asked myself what would have been the result if this was a Kenyan Job (with the exception of a few garages)??
One thing is for sure, most guys would have gotten those big polyfila molded bumpers on, that shutter if they scrape a bump. Guys, one thing that we get wrong as Kenyans when modifying cars, is having the mentallity that fitting a body kit will make the car look nice. Body kits work on certain cars, with certain shapes and body types. At times, a fresh coat of paint, some nice rims, tint and maybe dropping the car will do the trick.

One thing that i love about this ride is that it is not exaggerated and everything just flows. From the exterior to the interior, everything is just right. Some of the mods on this T Cam include:

Exterior:
The Corolla has undergone a full blue spies hecker respray, got a Drft tail pipe, 3M Window Tint and American Style Headlamps fitted.
The ride is sitted on some 18" Sumitomo rims and has the factory T Cam brake discs with EBC brake pads. Suspension wise, the T Cam is fitted with Tein Racing Shockskoni Springs.

Interior:
The interior has not been left untouched and some of the mods include MB Tech Seat Covers, a R1 shift knob and an Indiglo Speedometer. The car also has some boom in the trunk and is fitted with some JBL door speakers and Woofers (not quite sure how much its pumping).

Engine:
Engine mods can be quite expensive and most guys tend to do just a few mods to them and the same applies on this beauty. It's been fitted with a TRD c.d.i, TRD oil catch & filter, a lighter flywheel, TRD metal head gasket, some NGK iridium spark plugs, Firestorm Spark plug cables and a custom header 4-1.
The transmission is pretty much standard though a TRD short shifter has been fitted.

I think this is the road that we as Kenyans should be heading down in car modifications and we at V-12 are on the look out for such beauties. If you've got a ride that you'd like featured, feel free to drop us an email on vtwelve.k@gmail.com and we will get in touch.

Drive safe and remember to buckle up!!
